Ananth

National Trust for the Handicapped (NTH) is a charitable trust registered in the year 1977 under the provisions of The Charitable & Religious Trusts Act, 1920. Our three departments under the NTH umbrella are the Ananth school, Svayam OPD and Teacher training Department.

MISSION We are committed to ensuring that every person’s special needs are nurtured by providing meaningful educational & life skills experiences in a congenial and joyful environment. Our aim is to provide quality education and training to every special child and his/her family, to make sure that they are cared for and their rights are respected, and to attain a sustainable and positive future for all.

Smt. Vasanthi A. Pai

As an ardent social worker, she sought to create adequate infrastructure for the benefit of people with developmental disabilities. She championed the cause of the disabled by founding the National Trust for the Handicapped (NTH) in 1977, and has worked tirelessly to bring the needs of the handicapped to mainstream attention.

CHAIRPERSON

Dr V.S. Rama Devi

Dr V.S. Rama Devi was successor to Smt Vasanthi A. Pai as Chairperson of the NTH from 31.05.2003 - 16.04.2013. She had earlier served as Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha and as Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka. Her guidance during the crucial years of construction on the property held in trust by the Ananth were of immense help in starting the Project on a sound footing.

CHAIRPERSON

Shri K.R. Baliga

A founding member of NTH, he was a former IAS and worked in the Defence Ministry of India. He was a Trustee who later became the Chairperson of Ananth from 8.7.2013 to 13.11.2015. Parent to a specially-abled child, he spearheaded the Ananth construction. He was also associated with the construction of the Okhla Centre for Mentally Challenged Children in the 1960s, and the founding of the FWMR in 1969.

CHAIRPERSON

Dr. Sarala Gopalan

A former Secretary to the Government of India and a retired IAS officer, with experience in the Departments of Women & Child Development and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Dr. Sarala Gopalan spearheads the planning of NTH activities and was instrumental in the development of the school building.

Ms. Seema Jindal Jajodia

An industrialist and philanthropist, Ms. Seema Jindal has championed the needs of our students, ensuring that our students get a balance of curricular and co-curricular activities designed to achieve self-reliance, delivered through the latest teaching and technology methods. Her creative leadership keeps us all motivated.

Former Vice Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority and Former Chief Secretary of the State of Tamil Nadu. With his excellent management skills, he ensures multiple deadlines are met for the smooth running of NTH.

Prof. (Dr.) P Jeychandran

A Clinical Research Psychologist, American Psychological Association, and a Special Educator, Professor P. Jeychandran was the first in India to develop curricula for children with intellectual disabilities and special education needs. He was a Trustee from 31.05.2003 – 09.05.2022. He pioneered a tool for functional assessment and use of yoga for persons with intellectual disabilities.
