The RCI is the regulatory body responsible for training of personnel & professionals in the field of rehabilitation & special education. We are an approved and recognized training Centre of RCI and offer a 2-year Diploma course in Education- Special Education – Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities - D.Ed (SE)(IDD).

It is our mission to create a highly-skilled workforce to take up the task of providing quality education to children with intellectual disabilities and development.

COURSE FRAMEWORK

- The D.Ed (SE)(IDD)is taught over two academic years, comprising two semesters each.
- Year 1 - 6 Theoretical papers and 6 practical papers
- Year 2 - 6 Theoretical papers and 6 practical papers

- Practical Papers include training in a wide range of internationally-recognized pedagogic practices including Assessment & Individualized Education Program (IEP), Therapeutics &Behaviour Modification, and Intervention Case Studies.
- Regular institutional visits are organized for the trainees to provide real-world and first-hand experience in how various organizations are efficiently undertaking the task of teaching children with other forms of disabilities such as hearing or visual impairment, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, etc.


METHODOLOGY

Lectures, demonstration, project work, group work, seminar presentation, discussions, exposure visits to schools/rehabilitation projects, community meetings, medical camps, community development programmes, teaching experience in disability intervention programmes at grassroots level.


CERTIFICATION AS REGISTERED PERSONNEL

It is mandatory for every rehabilitation professional / personnel to obtain a “Registered Personnel / Professional Certificate” from the RCI to work in the field of special education in India.

As continuous professional growth is necessary for the renewal of the certificate, the rehabilitation professional / personnel should undergo in-serviceprogramme periodically to update their professional knowledge.

Enrolled candidates will be taught by our highly-qualified and experiencedin-house core faculty(link to core team bios)and benefit from guest lectures on specific topics by eminent practitioners and researchers.

Faculty participation in both national and international seminars is an integral part of this programme.


CAREER PROSPECTS

Our graduates are eligible for:
i) The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB), and other examinations for teachers choosing to enter into Government serviceas special educators.
ii) Work as Special Educators in regular, special and inclusive schools as well as hospitals and clinics.

ELIGIBITY

Class 12 from a recognized Board with minimum aggregate marks of 50%. A relaxation of 5% for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (SC), or Person with Disability (PwD) categories.


MINIMUM ATTENDANCE

Eighty per cent minimum attendance is required in both the theory and practical modules for eligibility to take the semester-end examinations.
